Myths and Misconceptions

myths and misconceptions
are slowly stripped away,
layer by layer,
resulting in brutal realizations;
nothing is as it seems;
and it becomes increasingly clear,
that the things you will
never do in life,
far outweigh those
which you have done
or ever will do,
this world,
this life,
begins and ends,
until lines and boundaries
become oblivious,
running together
like melting winter snow;
if I could still feel the wind,
you know that I would,
the voices come slowly now,
like strangers in the night,
never quite sure when or if
they will return,
as mystery gives way
to bright white illumination,
hot and searing,
seeking inner truths,
but finding only minor revelations
and hidden indecision;
you and I (old friend),
have come a long way,
on a journey with no beginning
and without end,
you have shown me a tomorrow,
while withstanding the yesterdays,
and for this I shall
love you forever;
for the first time in years,
you hear us again,
in the nighttime dusk,
clouded by the mist
of these broken dreams,
faded and worn,
sitting upon the mantelpiece,
afraid to ever raise the truth
in the face of undying consequences,
the words of reality have no meaning,
in a world full of fantasy and dust;
take me now;
hold the bloodstained cloth up,
standing before the howling gale,
alone and unafraid,
following the irresistible temptations,
let it lead,
it is for you to follow,
never questioning why,
never wavering from
the long broken trail,
blind for blindness sake,
that only then may the truth
truly be seen;
this place is not yours,
nor was it ever,
nor shall it ever be.
