Hard Things

some people have the innate ability,

to make even the simplest things;

hard;

never failing to let you know,

when the opportunity presents itself,

you are beneath them,

that you could never begin

to understand those things

which they have managed to make

so complicated;

they always seem so genuinely impressed,

when you walk up and gently move aside

the square peg they’re holding in their hand,

while quietly sliding the round peg

into the damn hole.
