Myths and Misconceptions

myths and misconceptions
are slowly stripped away,
layer by layer,
resulting in brutal realizations;
nothing is as it seems;
and it becomes increasingly clear,
that the things you will never do in life,
far outweigh those
which you have done or ever will do,
this world, this life,
begins and ends,
until lines and boundaries become oblivious,
running together
like melting winter snow.

Boundaries

call out my name,
across the dark, forlorn waters
of this raging swamp,
and I will hear,
I will come;
outside the storm rages on,
as children die
slow lonely deaths,
while inside,
it is business as usual;
time makes everything
temporary, obsolete,
in their well-defined universe,
they lie trapped,
by limits and invisible boundaries
they can never cross;
we are all terminally ill,
in this terminal world,
waiting for a cure
which will never come;
but still we wait
just the same.

Still

I rise from my bed at 0444,
thinking of the day ahead;
still there is her;
I dress and make my morning juice drink,
get in my car and drive to work,
going over all the things
I want to accomplish throughout the day;
still there is her;
I watch the day come and go,
traveling on the road lying in-between,
making connections and departures
in a world where nothing is as it seems;
still there is her;
and I wonder if she knows,
if she understands the reasons
behind decisions, which were not as easy
as they might have seemed,
but in the final analysis;
does it matter?
so I pretend as if it was all just part of the game,
the way it was meant to be,
laughing and smiling at everything and everyone,
doing the only things I know how to do,
being the only person
I know how to be,
a stranger,
inside a dark and foreign land,
and still;
there is her.

this prison

in the dead of the night,
the breeze finally comes,
as the heat floats gently away,
like the breath of a slowly dying man,
his soul crying out to flee this prison,
where it has been held for so long,
never allowed to become,
all that it could have been,
praying for survival,
among the destruction of prison walls,
returning to a home it has never known;
sleep comes hard,
in this land of loneliness and pain,
while thoughts of words already said,
echo through the silence of the mind,
remembering places nearly forgotten,
by this clever disguise called life;
the small still voice,
quietly calls out,
offering a refuge of hope and light,
amidst the cold and barren darkness,
of this forgotten, forsaken cell;
I wish I could walk out of this prison,
discard it like old clothes,
free at last,
no restrictions,
no fear or rage,
only quiet, simple thought;
this prison which holds me to the earth,
this prison that makes me crave depravity,
this prison in which I was born,
this prison which has grown with me,
but has never let me grow.

even Einstein knew that

“Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.” – the first law of thermodynamics or the conservation of energy. One of the key principles in Einstein’s theory of relativity.
I’ve learned a few things
in this life,
things that no one else knows
or takes the time to see;
for example;
I know that rock n roll
began in 1948,
in the form of a simple
country blues song
called boogie chillum,
by a man
who would influence
a whole generation,
but never get the credit
that was his due;
I know that I have heard the
voice of God, spoken by a prophet
during my lifetime,
just as so many others did,
but that very few recognized him
for who he truly was,
but that someday they will;
I know that this life
is not what it seems,
that it is an illusion,
created to deceive and fool,
a very elaborate illusion,
but an illusion
just the same;
I know that Jesus Christ
was exactly who He said He was,
just as the words of the bible
say precisely what they mean,
and are not hiding
ancient secrets
or theological mysteries,
despite how many scholars
say they are,
that the truth is so simple,
only the simple
can see it;
whether the rest of the world
wants to believe it
or not;
I know that nothing in this life
is an accident,
that it was all planned out
from the beginning,
every detail,
every chance encounter,
that the energy
we carry inside,
can never be destroyed,
only changed
or altered in form;
hell;
even Einstein knew that.

than you

I have written many things in my life,
thought many thoughts,
fantasized many fantasies,
dreamed many dreams,
but none of them
are more important
than you;
I have written of imaginary lovers
and foolish ideas,
all of which
seemed so important,
but were nothing,
nothing at all,
when compared to the love
that we share,
you are the reality
which has kept me holding on
to this life,
for more years
than I can remember,
yours is the touch
I long to feel,
the voice
I long to hear,
at the end of the day,
when nothing seems real,
when nothing is true,
as all the thoughts and ideas
go drifting away
like smoke,
from a burning campfire,
you are the part of me
I can never let go,
no matter how hard
this need to destroy
everything that I touch
has tried;
there is no one
I would rather be with
than you.

More

she has been by my side,
for more than half her life,
she has been my lover,
my best friend,
the part of me
that has allowed for survival,
in a world so dark and lost;
she is my strength,
my foundation,
I need her
like the dawn
needs the sun,
like the night
needs the moon,
the light
which guides the way;
if I could,
I would give her more;
words cannot say
what her and I have,
nor can they replace
this life that we have shared,
she builds me up
when I am down,
she continues to believe
in us,
when I give her no reason;
if I could,
I would give her more;
