Without Warning

“Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”   Habakkuk 1:5
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ “ ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”   Luke 16:29-31
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.   Hebrews 10:31
today I saw the end,
it came like a flash,
unexpected,
without warning,
without explanation;
unconditional;
the ground work has already been laid,
the time grows short,
it is not what I, or anybody,
could ever imagine;
simple,
pure,
perfect;
most would not believe,
even if I told them,
most would not believe,
even if One rose from the grave
and told them;
most are too arrogant,
caught up in their self-righteousness,
their pre-conceived ideas of how it is
supposed to be,
how they want it to be,
they don’t listen,
they twist,
they spin,
they think they see,
but they are blind;
just like the Pharisees;
in a dream,
I have heard the screams,
I have heard the ‘gnashing of teeth’,
I have felt the power,
crackling, sizzling, searing;
it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God;
it does not matter,
truth is truth,
it does not change,
no matter how hard some
try to bend it,
to twist it,
to make it fit;
truth is truth,
whether it is accepted or not;
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.   Proverbs 3:5-18
And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, even among the survivors whom the LORD calls.   Joel 2:32
