Going Back

it’s never easy going back,

turning around mid-stream,

fighting the swiftly flowing current,

it can take every ounce of energy

you possess;

it can be a very painful process;

you’re forced to relive

all the mistakes,

all the missed opportunities,

all the ‘shit’ that could have been,

should have been;

it’s not something I recommend

anybody try;

bad things can happen

when you turn around,

unexpected things,

unforeseen things;

things that would have been better

left undone,

things that should be left in their

rotting, shallow graves.
