The wrath of God is being revealed
from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress
the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to
them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the
world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been
clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are
without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as
God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish
hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and
exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal
human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in
the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of
their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a
lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is
forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful
lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In
the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were
inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men,
and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Furthermore, just
as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave
them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They
have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.
They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers,
God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil;
they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love,
no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such
things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also
approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:18-32
Surely
he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by
God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on
him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each
of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD
has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he
did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep
before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and
judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut
off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was
punished. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his
death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it
was the LORD’s will to crush him
and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD
makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his
days, and the will of the LORD
will prosper in his hand. After he has suffered, he will see the light of life
and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and
he will bear their iniquities. Therefore I will give him a portion among the
great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his
life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of
many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:4-12
We are all guilty, we are all without excuse. Jesus was
tortured and executed for the sins of mankind, which means every one of us are
to blame for His death. Every single one of us are guilty of murder. If we deny
this then we call God a liar and we are just as guilty. It is not about gay
rights or heterosexual superiority. Not about who leads a clean life and who
doesn’t. Not about who is guiltier than the other. Not about pro-life or a
woman’s right to choose. As the prophet Isaiah said; “We all, like sheep, have gone
astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” God is
the only One who is right. The rest of us can either accept His mercy or turn
our backs on it and deny the only hope we have of escaping this life for
something far better. I know I can never make anyone understand this through
words. Only the Holy Spirit can provide true understanding. I pray that God
will send the Holy Spirit into your life to help you understand what I am
saying.
