Going Back

It’s never easy going back,

turning around in mid-stream,

fighting the swiftly flowing current,

it can take every ounce of energy

you possess;

it can be a very painful process.

You’re forced to relive

all the mistakes,

all the missed opportunities,

all the ‘shit’ that

could have been,

should have been;

it’s not something I recommend

anybody try.

Bad things can happen

when you turn around,

unexpected things,

unforeseen things;

things that would have been better

left undone;

things that should be left in their

rotting, shallow graves.
